Request Description: New teacher just starting at the high school in a special education classroom. Looking for books tables for collaborative small group work during reading intervention times and resource time.

Amount Needed: $538

Positive Impact & Student Benefit: Studies have shown that students show growth and success when lessons are paired with collaboration of other peers. The half moon or kidney table provides more productive work space for small group work experiences. This will also allow for myself to still be able to see what is going on with other students in the classroom for classroom management. The rectangle table would replace the desks that I had to use as I did not have enough tables to complete my collaborative table seating arrangements. The books are to help build up a classroom library. I would like to make sure that every student who walks into my classroom has a book to read. Some students are uncomfortable or feel overwhelmed with the selections in a library. By building a classroom library this provides students with an avenue to still have an a variety of options to read. There is no bookcase in my classroom, thus the bookcase would provide a place to house the books.

Teachers are dedicated in providing students with the best possible educational experience they can and when the school or donations do not help cover the needs in the classrooms many of us dip into our pockets. But it is worth the smile, experience, and knowledge the students gain.
