Alternative Means to Self-Regulate & Learn

HFEE funded a grant in the fall of 2022 for the High School Special Education Program titled "Alternative Means to Self-Regulate & Learn."

Through the grant, the special education department purchased standing desks, wobble stools, fidget items, large display calculators and tape measures, and other tools to help students stay focused.

By having these tools, students can self-regulate, which allows them to participate and be successful in mainstream classrooms.

Since implementing the grant, the department has noticed a significant improvement in discipline incidents, with a decrease of 36 percent. There is also a significant decrease in failing grades among the students who are utilizing the equipment and space.

Projects that show results like this are what HFEE is very proud to fund, thanks to our generous sponsors and this great community.
